Hmmm…where to begin? Alright, I guess I will start with the usually boring information. I was born in Georgetown, Guyana. I lived there for most of my childhood before my family immigrated to the United States.
I love reading alot! It has to be the most soothing of all my hobbies. I have an enormous collection of books that are threatening to bludgeon me every time I approach the shelves. The librarians within a 20 mile radius know me by name.
I also love making things. It doesn’t matter what. I just love the process of creating. I love cooking, baking, sewing, painting and drawing. I am not particularly excellent at making things always, but it is always fun for me.
The most important hobby is caring for my plants. I love my plants. I may be considered borderline obsessed with them. There is only one catch. I always buy the saddest looking ones. I will enter the nursery and see beautiful healthy plants that will certainly flourish even more under my care, but I always leave with the ones that are about to die. My success rate is at about 70%. This is not bad. Not bad at all.
Oh yes! I graduated from Chatham College, formerly Pennsylvania College for Women and alma mater of Rachel Carson, with a B.S. in Biology minor in Botany. I currently work as an assistant where I get to do everything! Graphics, web, writing, planning conferences, financial, etc. (I’m a pro at expense reports!) and the ordinary things like making copies.
Although, I didn’t go to school for art, it has always been and continues to be my hobby. I think it is rather a way of life as I come from a rather artistic family. My mother is a very excellent artist and craftswoman. I still remember my elementary school bags, clothes, our curtains, her drawings and the little touches of her creative spirit everywhere in our home! They were all so wonderful and original! I remember thinking that one day I wanted to be able to do all of this.
Below are two brochures that I worked on at the office. I did the designs, layout and helped with the writing and editing.
Below is a flyer that I wrote, edited and designed at the office.
